One special Foundation donor is providing the gift of a Catholic education to two students attending a local Catholic high school.
Miss Eleanor funds four-year tuition
awards for two young women at Mount St. Mary Academy in Kenmore and provides a wonderful
example of helping others.
Mount St. Mary Academy, founded by the
Sisters of St. Mary of Namur, is a Catholic private college preparatory school
for young women. Guided by Catholic tradition, and rooted in Gospel values, the
school educates young women who are dedicated to lifelong learning, moral
integrity and service to and acceptance of others.
According to Julie Wojick, assistant
principal for institutional advancement, Miss Eleanor was made aware of two
young women who had qualified for some scholarships, but still needed
additional financial help to make their dreams of attending Mount St. Mary
Academy a reality. Miss Eleanor was
interested in helping students from refugee and immigrant families.
"The girls visit Miss Eleanor regularly
and share details about their activities and their hopes and dreams for the
future," Wojick said. "She is part of
their lives and is rooting for their success."
The students are extremely grateful for
the support of someone they didn't know and hope to pay it forward as they
journey through life. Miss Eleanor has
been embraced as part of the Mount community and was a guest at the school's
annual Mother-Daughter Brunch in May 2019.
